FAQs - Aumatcha Tools & The Ritual Kit

The Chawan is a wide ceramic matcha bowl used to whisk and drink matcha. Its broad, deep shape gives you enough space to whisk properly creating that signature froth without spilling. Drinking directly from the Chawan is also part of the traditional Japanese matcha ritual, making the experience feel intentional and grounding. Available individually at ₹1,600.
The Chasen is a hand-crafted bamboo whisk with fine tines designed specifically to dissolve matcha powder and create a smooth, frothy texture. To use it, pour hot water (70–80°C) over your sifted matcha and whisk in a quick zig-zag 'W' or 'M' motion for 20–30 seconds until frothy. A regular kitchen whisk or frother simply cannot replicate this texture. Available individually at ₹1,000.
The Chasen Yasume is a ceramic stand that holds your bamboo whisk upside down when not in use. It keeps the tines in their natural curved shape, prevents breakage, and extends the life of your Chasen significantly. Without it, the tines flatten over time and lose their ability to create the perfect froth. In it's absence the whisk also has tendency of attracting mould if not dried carefully. Available individually at ₹400.
The Furui is Aumatcha's signature antique gold sifter one of the most distinctive pieces in our kit. Sifting matcha before whisking breaks up clumps, which is essential for a smooth, lump-free cup. What makes Aumatcha's Furui special is its fine double mesh and beautiful antique gold finish functional and stunning. Available individually at ₹1,900.
The Chashaku is a slender bamboo scoop used to measure matcha powder. One level scoop delivers approximately 1g of matcha so two scoops gives you the standard 2g serving. More precise than a regular teaspoon, and it keeps the ritual authentic. Aumatcha's Chashaku is branded, making it a lovely keepsake. Available individually at ₹450.

Each tool in the Aumatcha kit is designed specifically for matcha - the bowl's shape with spout, the whisk's tine structure, the sifter's fine mesh and first harvest organic signature blend matcha powder with a 30 gms tin. Regular kitchen tools can make a functional cup, but the texture, froth, and flavour won't be the same. The Aumatcha kit transforms making matcha from a quick task into a mindful daily ritual and that ritual is exactly what makes matcha different from any other drink.
Yes. A small milk frother works as an alternative to the bamboo whisk. You can even shake it vigorously in a jar with a lid. The goal is to dissolve the powder fully and create a smooth, frothy consistency though the Chasen gives the most authentic result and experience.
Yes. Every tool is available individually on aumatcha.com website - the Chawan, Chasen, Chasen Yasume, Chashaku, and Furui gold sifter, matcha powder and bamboo scoop. This is perfect if you already own some tools and want to upgrade specific pieces.
